Here's how you can start a small business:

1. Brainstorm. Before you start a small business, you will need to have a solid idea as to what products or services that you are going to sell. It's not necessary that you go with the first idea that comes to you mind. It would be better if you can do some brainstorming and list down all the possible ideas for your small business. Then, weigh the pros and cons of each idea. Make sure that you go with products that are easy to sell and make sure that you do not get yourself into stiff competition.

2. Plan. You will need to have several short term and long terms goals for your business. You also need a concrete plan of actions on how you can achieve these. As I am pretty sure that your main goal is to grow your business, you must plan how you can attract clients and how you can effectively promote your products and services.

3. Pricing strategy. If you are just starting out in one particular field and if you are going against the big dogs, it would work to your advantage if you charge a little less compare to your competitors. Buyers will most likely to consider making a purchase from you, especially during difficult times, if they know that they'll be able to save. Make sure though that you will not shortchange yourself in the process. Determine how much exactly it would cost you to produce and promote a product and base your tag prices on these elements. Keep in mind that you need to profit otherwise, your business will surely be doomed.

4. Check out your competitors. If you want to really succeed in this field, you will need to know how you can outplay your competitors. Do your research and get to know exactly what they are doing when creating and selling their products. You'll be able to use the information you gather to make sure that your products and services will look much better to the eyes of your target market.
